64 years of marriage

I had the honor of doing some different photos for a close friend, she wanted to capture some engagement style photos of her grandparents who have been married 64 years!
I will admit, I was terrified, that's such a daunting task.. to capture not just a couple but a couple who has been together 64 years, through the good, the bad, the joys, and I am sure some of the heart aches as well.  When I met them you could feel the love between them, just a contentedness with being together.  I wanted that to be what I captured, not just a couple in front of the camera.

It makes me think of a verse in Song of Solomon that says, "but I found him whom my soul loveth: "

I want my marriage to be reflection of that, when people look at my husband and me I want them to think that he is truly the one my soul loves!

It seems more and more that we can't find those who are with each other through it all, and when you find that one person who is willing to stick with you through it all you need to love them and adore them and cherish all the little things about them. I loved that as I was taking pictures of them, they would be so content to just sit by each other, not being busy, but just being together. Holding hands, and not needing to be doing something or going.

I will stop now, and share some of these amazing pictures!!

Very Hungry Caterpillar Birthday & Thomas the Train Birthday party

For my son's 1st birthday party I wanted to do The Very Hungry Caterpillar, I just love the story and thought it would be fun & colorful. I pulled inspiration from::Learn With Play At Home I also got my print outs for the food from her. She did an amazing party for her son! It was so much fun baking the cake, and putting together the food and we just had water toys and the playground for the kids to play on. It was a great party! We did Thomas the Train for my 3 yr old, which I share the images below. He just loved all of it! The kids found it to be quite a hit!

My kinds invites which I did make myself in CS5 using graphics I found online. For the letters I simply created clipping masks for the letters over a graphic I found of the Very Hungry Caterpillar colors

Mylo's invites were fun because as much as I wanted to do a Thomas invite I just wanted something fun that really showed his personality :)

For the cake, I simply baked a box mix in the bundt cake pan, then cut it into 3 pieces

For the frosting I used a total of 7 shades of green, I made my buttercream frosting from this recipe:Classic Yummy Buttercream Recipe my only substitue was I added 2TB of meringue powder to help it harden after frosting. I used a grass tip for the caterpillar and then I also used a star tip for the head.

I didn't feel it necessary to add the feet for the caterpillar, and in all honesty I totally forgot about his antennas! whoopsy!!!!
